Several troops from all levels of Girl Scouting turned out for this year's International Festival at Kennedy Middle School in February. Much to everyone's relief, this time the event was an afternoon function and not an overnighter! Each booth spotlighted a country of the world, and the girls collected stamps in their 'passports' showing which 'country' they had visited.
Our country was Spain. The craft we chose to teach was a Farol Star, made from a rainbow of crepe paper, yarn, paper plates, construction paper and enough glue to hold a two-ton rhino in place! Myra and Denise held the fort at our booth for most of the day, demonstrating the craft and helping visitors to make their own. Later the Juniors took a turn, running the operation like professionals.
Some of the other countries represented at the event were Greece, Australia, Ireland, and Jamaica, who had brought one of the most popular games: a limbo pole. Our girls all got into the spirit of the thing very quickly as you can see.
